Invitation Etiquette
When should I order my wedding invitations?
Typically invitations are ordered 4-6 months prior to the event. You want to give yourself enough time to chose the right style and make any changes to the proof. Production times can range from three to six weeks, and you may need to allow time to address and mail the invitations.
When should I send my invitations to my guests?
We suggest sending your invitations six to eight weeks before the date of your wedding. However, if you have a lot of out of town guest and you didn’t send save the dates, you should send these invitations out ten to twelve weeks before the event. This gives your guests time to make their travel arrangements.
How many invitations should I order?
First, make your guest list. It may take some time but it is well worth it. Ordering too few invitations and having to order 10 or 20 more can be costly. And when making your list remember it’s one invitation per household and adults 18 and over living with their parents should receive their own invitation.
Order at least 10% extra, for the people you forgot to include on your list or you decide to add later. You may want a few extra as keepsakes too.
